How to Use Meditation Music
Meditation music and sacred chants are tools for turning the mind inward. These simple guidelines may help you get the most from your listening practice.
Set an Intention
Before listening, take a moment to set a clear intention. Whether it is peace, healing, gratitude, or simply stillness – intention directs the mind and opens the heart to the music.
Find Your Posture
Sit comfortably with the spine gently upright – on a cushion, chair, or the floor. A stable, comfortable posture supports attentiveness and reduces distraction during meditation.
Listen with Full Attention
Allow the music to be the sole focus of awareness. When the mind wanders, gently return attention to the sound – the melody, the mantra, the tone. This is the practice itself.
Choose Your Duration
Start with 10-20 minutes and extend naturally over time. Regularity matters more than length. A daily 15-minute session builds deeper stillness than an occasional hour-long session.
Sacred Space
Create a small, dedicated space for your practice – a cushion, a candle, a sacred image. A consistent environment signals the mind that it is time to settle and turn inward.
Respect & Reverence
These mantras and chants come from living spiritual traditions. Approach them with genuine respect. For deeper study, seek authentic teachers and traditional lineages.
